Industrial demolition tasks typically include:
- Soft Strip. Removal of all non structural elements, internal loose fixtures and fittings. Soft-strip techniques enable the removal of recyclable materials such as timber, metal and plastics prior to full site demolition or where a building is undergoing a major renovation.
- Structural dismantling. Alternative dismantling techniques, such as hand tools are used to ensure safe and controlled demolition where traditional procedures are unsafe or inappropriate to use on a specific project.
- Crushing. Heavy plant used to handle all types of building material include an all-terrain city crane, bulldozers, hydraulic breakers, pulverisers and concrete crushers.
- Facade Retention. Incorporates the structural design and erection of facade support systems used in demolition projects involving the preservation of part or all of a historic, listed building or architecturally unique structure.
- Asbestos removal and disposal. Carried out under licensed and strictly regulated management procedures involving sealing of the contaminated area, special respirator masks and personal protection equipment, double bagging and secured safety skips.
- Waste management, recycling. An integral and strictly enforceable part of all demolition processes for all waste building materials, such as insulation, nails, electrical wiring, and rebar Includes waste originating from site preparation, such as dredging materials, tree stumps, and rubble.
- Environmental remediation. Often involves the removal of hazardous substances that were part of the industrial process and potentially caused site contamination.
